Self-portrait fahion editorial by Anselme Alma Servain made in collaboration with stylist Hyewon Jeong. on cross-dressing, gender performance and power dynamics.
Anselme Alma Servain is a French visual artist predominantly working with photography. His work delves into themes of queer identity, beauty and intimacy. Central to his practice is self-disclosure, expressed through intuitive self-portraiture. Here, the body serves as a vessel, allowing exploration of uncharted, personal territories yet to be discovered. Fully aware of the erotic dialogue he engages with himself through his self-portraits, Anselme constantly questions the ambiguity between being both the photographer and the model, the desiring āIā and the desired object. His work is a testament to his unyielding fascination with portraying homosexuality and homoeroticism, and displaying the ominous feeling and sense of grief that is so closely linked to queer identity.
Anselme is currently studying photography at the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague, in The Netherlands, and graduated from a bachelor's in French literature from Sorbonne Université in Paris in 2020.
