Organic beauty brands are growing in numbers and popularity, with products focused on natural sources and perceptions of biological health. Sun care brand, Coola specialises in balancing out organic and chemical products. Throughout their luxury range, they mix scientific study with natural resources, creating a selection of products aiming to protect your skin. Their website provides explanatory information on the differences between the Classic and Mineral lines, as well as the various Eco policies they stand for.
I had the opportunity to try one product from each of the lines. One of these being the Coola Classic Sunscreen, Face Sport SPF 50 White Tea Moisturiser. Despite the inclusion of chemical active ingredients, Coola points out that +70% of the ingredients are organic. They also highlight their ‘Farm to Face’ policy, on the packaging, showing support of local suppliers. With so much positivity just from the production, their inclusion of interesting ingredients, such as Safflower Oleosomos, makes the sun screen seemingly more impressive to me.
Although it is getting into the depths of autumn now, I figured I could still test the product just as a moisturiser, as the lack of sun in The Netherlands means such a strong SPF isn’t much use. The cream was very light, so it would be comfortable to use on all areas of your body. I didn’t find it wholly effective on my fairly dry skin.
The Mineral SPF 30 Daydream Makeup Primer, a water resistant multi-tasker aimed to prep for makeup whilst protecting your skin through the day. Coola, again, highlights their policies on the packaging, this time including Plant Protection. This draws attention to their plant-based ingredients of Honeysuckle and White Lily, which sound odd but are known to help with major skin problems.
Again, unable to test the quality of SPF, I instead focused on the products worth as a primer. The white formula appears, at first glance, as a sun cream however I found it very light to apply. It makes the application of my makeup very easy, with my foundation easily blending in over pores and skin tone. My skin still feels soft and remains this way for the majority of the day, with minimum oil breaking out. Comparing to my usual 24 hour primer, this one wasn’t entirely effective in keeping my face on for the whole day. However, I believe for summer, where you are less likely to use so much makeup, this primer would be a perfect supplement to protect against UV rays.
